We are excited to share the latest updates and improvements introduced to FarmManager. This release focuses on financial tracking, robust inventory and supply chain audits, more flexible scheduling, and system visibility.
1. In-App Latest News Reader
- Stay in the Loop, In-App: Clicking the “Trial Edition” or “Standard Edition” badge on the Dashboard now loads the latest news and guides directly inside the app using a built-in web viewer. You no longer have to leave the app to read updates on gielix.co.za.
2. Advanced Expense Management & Inventory Integration
Recording and managing operational costs is now more dynamic and fully integrated with your inventory audits:
- Custom Expense Dates: When capturing new outlays, you can now select a custom date (defaulting to today) instead of only using the exact recording timestamp.
- Edit Existing Expenses: Made expenses editable! You can adjust details, costs, dates, and suppliers at any point.
- Cost & VAT Tracking:
- Renamed the “Price Cost” field to Total Cost (incl).
- Added a dedicated VAT input field adjacent to it. Both values are saved with the expense record and displayed in details.
- Smart Inventory Sync: When you link an outlay directly to supplies or fuel:
- Editing an expense calculates the delta and adjusts the stock/fuel level automatically.
- Deleting an expense automatically reverts/deducts the quantity that was added by that purchase, maintaining an accurate
StockJournalaudit trail.
3. Flexible Scheduling for Tasks
- Task Dates & Start Dates: When scheduling general, crop, machinery, or livestock tasks:
- You can now specify a custom Task Date (Due Date) for once-off tasks.
- You can specify a custom Start Date for repetitive/recurring tasks.
- This allows scheduling work in advance, which will automatically show up on the correct day in the Calendar View (daily, weekly, monthly tabs).
4. Robust Database Migrations & Safety
- Zero Data Loss Upgrades: Added a formal Room database migration path (upgraded database schema version to
22). When you install the update, the app automatically executes anALTER TABLEstatement to add the new VAT column while keeping all existing database records intact. - System Visibility: Added the active SQLite Database Version under
Farm Setup>System Settings>System Informationsection so users and coordinators can easily verify database status.
5. Workspace Directory Backups
Reliable Directory Structures: Re-engineered database backup path resolution. All backups are now consistently written to the selected Workspace folder path structures (e.g. /backups and /photos), making them easier to copy or sync with external drives.
